What is the rule as to when Qu'est-ce qui is used rather than Que?I have read through the lesson twice. There are many examples given but no clear guidance as to what they are supposed to be illustrating? Please could someone clarify? Thanks very much, David

Half past noon (12:30 am) Half past midnight (12:30 pm) . past noon is PM past midnight is AM.

How do you say, " I play video games (as a hobby), " in French?Without saying, " I'm playing video games (right now), " instead with the use of, " Je joue des jeux de vidéo. "

Faire les course v. Faire des courses

I learned that the difference here is:

faire les courses = grocery shopping

faire des courses = running errands (still not leisure shopping but includes things like pharmacy, dry cleaning, dog to groomer etc.j

Is this correct?

va-t-il What does the -t-il mean?I know now that it means " does he go, " but the average person reading this wouldn't know that. -T-il is perhaps the most confusing thing about French question-making. What does the -t- even mean? Can't mean tu or te judging by the context, so why's it there? Just for phonetic reasons, like the l' in si l'on? This should really be explained in the lesson, what -t-il means.

Why do we use "après que" instead of "après" if there is no subjunctive verb to follow?Hi, What is the difference between these two sentences? Elles rentrent après que le bus les a déposées. Elles rentrent après le bus les a déposées. I don't understand why the second one is not correct so I guess I don't understand when to use "après que" vs a simple "après." Don't they mean the same thing? Is there a rule? Thanks.

what does cest ça mean?I saw the sentence "qu'est ce que c'est ça". I thought c'est and ça means the same thing "it", so I'm a little confused why do we need to repeat it twice. My teacher said that we can also use "qu'est ce que c'est" and "qu'est ce que ça". How exactly are they different?

Je voudrais v j'aimeraisWhat is the difference in usage between je voudrais and j'aimerais? I have heard elsewhere that j'aimerais is appropriate when asking for something that you might not get or are unlikely to get. Is that correct?
