Further questions on Il s'est réveillé le jour suivant le mariage

In a reply to Jennifer 4 years ago on this lesson, Cécile says 
" No you cannot say , 'le jour suivant le mariage' you could say, ' le jour après le mariage' but ' le lendemain du mariage' is even better... "
I have 2 questions about this answer:
Q1) Compare the example "Il a été relâché le jour suivant son arrestation." with "Il s'est réveillé le jour suivant le mariage". Do these both not follow the same pattern of the day following+[something]. What is it about the latter that is wrong?
Q2) Cécile has indicated we could say le jour après le mariage but in the lesson we can read "You cannot say le jour après in French." So which is it?

Q1. "le jour suivant + [word]" and "le jour après + [word]" are both correct, although they aren't the best options here. So we've added "le jour après le mariage" as well as "le jour suivant le mariage" as correct. However, keep in mind that "le lendemain de +[something]" is far better.
Q2. If you wish to translate the time phrase "the day after", you cannot use "le jour après" but "le jour d'après" on its own.
Il l'a vu le lendemain / le jour d'après = He saw him the day after
However, just like Cécile explained, you could use "le jour après + [something]" to translate "the day after + [something]" although "le lendemain de +[something]" is far better. It is not in the lesson as it is not the best way of saying it (grammatically speaking).
