Préposition following attendre

What I had understood that verb attendre is not followed by any preposition….elle attendait de m’entendre…. Why are we using de here ?

Bonjour Manpreet kaur,

As Maarten explained, there is no preposition after "attendre quelqu'un" (i.e. on the context of "to expect/wait for [someone/something]"). I've added this detail in that section for now.

@Maarten, I will pass on your feedback about this lesson to the French team. :-)

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Attendre de - to wait to (do something).

No preposition for 'attendre' before a noun. (Different with 's'attendre à ..' obviously ).

There doesn't seem to be anything in a lesson here on the use of 'attendre' with a following infinitive. As noted, there is a bolded statement that 'attendre' is not followed by a preposition. Although this is in a section about 'attendre quelqu'un', and is intended to contrast with the use of "s'attendre à" presumably .... perhaps it could be clarified further ?

This is already a complex lesson, so maybe it would be better to have it split than add more to it ?

to wait to [do]
