The example listed in the lesson specifies "a bakery in the town".

Une boulangerie dans la ville.

What if I was speaking in general, such as "Yes, there's a bakery in town."

Would this be translated as "Oui, il y a une boulangerie en ville." ?

My answer to a question in the quiz wasn't in the dropdown. Please could you explain why the phrase My little boy is in kindergarten uses 'en' instead of mon petit garçon est à l'école maternelle? Thank you.

With dans, am I physically in the place? I’m trying to understand, clearly the difference between en & dans. Thank you.

Can you explain why not using “ dans l prison “ in the exercise ?

Why "dans"?  Isn't stadium a general place rather than a specific one?  Like "in prison" = "en la prision"?

I was really scratching my head as to why the lesson seemed to think there was a difficulty about whether it should be "dans la rue" or "sur la rue".

Most people in England would say "I live in such and such street", so there's no difficulty at all in saying "J'habite dans rue such and such".

I suspect that to live "on" a street is an American usage, so perhaps the lesson should deal with that in the usual way by translating as "I live in xxxx street (US  I live on xxx street)" ?

Why can't I write "Ton père est dans la prison.?

I think "dans la" & "en" both work in this example. My reasoning is that prison is a physical place.

Je suis en classe  - I'm in class

Je suis dans la classe - I'm in the classroom

... I actually don't see the difference between  'classe'  in both sentences
in my understanding both sentences could mean I'm in class or I'm in the classroom

The first words I learned in French were the first words in my very first French textbook: 

J'entre dans la salle de classe. Je regarde autour de moi.
