My dictionary gives énorme for huge. Is there a particular reason for using immense instead?

Can this be recorder with slower audio? While the speaker may talk that way, she is much too fast to catch all the words and the liaisons

In the first sentence, "Avant que tu ne sois née, je ne pensais pas....why the imparfait? To me that is a fact started and ended in the past.
