Long and short scale.Billions, trillions and so forth can be confusing. Two scales are used. A long scale, used in many english-speaking countries: 10^3 - thousand 10^6 - million 10^9 - billion 10^12 - trillion 10^15 - quadrillion 10^18 - quintillion 10^21 - sextillion (each "-illion" increases by a power of 3) And a long scale, used in most european countries: 10^3 - mille 10^6 - million 10^9 - milliard 10^12 - billion 10^15 - billiard 10^18 - trillion 10^21 - trilliard (each "-illion" increases by a power of 6 with a "-illiard" in-between) This can be confusing for an european when reading international news. For example, when the US is spending a trillion(en) dollars, it's actually spending a billion(fr), 10^12, not a trillion(fr), 10^18.

Some additional resources?I'm really struggling with bringing all the preposition rules together for cities, regions, states, countries. Just as I slowly think i am cracking it with à, de (to/from cities), au, du (to/from m countries) and en/de - I then hit the stumbling block with regions and states as on the lesson here I read it also applies to countries. I have searched for YouTube videos to explain but it seems hard to find one where someone goes over all the different variables. Can anyone suggest a good single point of reference?

There it isI'm not a native english speaker, but isn't "there it is" (which is given as an incorrect option in the quiz) also used as an expression of relief, just like "finally" or "that's it" or "there you go", depending on the context?

Placement of y in a sentence using futur procheI thought there was a rule that "y" should come before the verb (including auxiliary verb). There seems to be an exception when using the futur proche? For example: Je vais y reflechir rather than J'y vais reflechir.

Conjugation of 'luire' in the passé simpleI have checked the rule and your answer does not follow the rule. Therefore I checked conjugation tables for luire which support the notion that your answer is incorrect, and that the correct answer was not present. According to these conjugation tables Luire in the passé simple has these conjugations: je luisis tu luisis il luisit "Now the city would fall into the 3rd category 3rd person singular and so the correct answer is surely luisit - Ian
