en venir à, en être

I have recently started to notice verb structures using en, where the en turns out not to be a pronoun, but seems to be part of an expression. I am having trouble translating

en venir à

en être

S'en vouloir would seem to fall into the same category. I don't know if there are other verbs like this. Is there a general way to interpret the en in these cases?

Nitpicking correction to the textWhere you write "In order to turn a sentence from active to passive voice, the tense of the auxiliary être must be the same as the tense of the main verb of the active sentence," shouldn't you instead say "the auxiliary VERB" or "the auxiliary VERB ÊTRE/AVOIR", especially since the examples that follow use "avoir" and not "être."

How to determine which case "on" is?How does one determine when on is used in a general context or as a collective NOUS? Is this as arbitrary and debatable as it seems or it is not adequately explained? Otherwise I wouldn't be getting this question wrong. If on in a general context is not translated as "one" or "they", as I've seen elsewhere, doesn't "we" always include the speaker?

Why not passé composé or plus que parfait?OK. Alors j'ai toujours des problems avec l'imparfait. Pourquoi est-ce qu'on ne doit pas utilise le passé composé avec : "Tu parlais de Jean, ce matin." "Ce matin" n'est pas une temps spécifique? L'autre example que me pose des problems c'est "Elle courait quand le bus arriva." Ça n'est pas un example d'une action interrompu? Alors il faudra utiliser le plus que parfait, non?

Better quiz questionFor this quiz, I suggest giving English sentences and multiple French translations. For example: The police arrived to late 1. Les polices sont arrivés trop tard. 2. Le police est arrivé trop tard. 3. La police sont arrivé trop tard. 4. La police est arrivée trop tard. Je propose aussi d'ajouter une deuxième question. Peut être: She brushed her long golden hair. Or Where are the rest rooms?

Aller àConfused re "These hats suit us" I put: Ces chapeaux... vont à nous" thinking that it had to contain the "aller à" form, and also that it'd be weird to end in the verb. But correct answer was "Ces chapeaux nous vont". Can you explain this one for me? Tx!
