Avoir l'air mal

Can you give me some guidance on when to use mal as an adjective. I wrote "le reste du casting n'avait pas l'air mauvais".

I believe it is similar to bon v. bien as an adjective. I read somewhere that bon is used to describe taste, smell, physical sensation or a person's level or quality Otherwise, use bien as the adjective. Is this correct and does it apply to mauvais v. mal? Thanks.

Doubt regarding one of the examples aboveTu amèneras des citrouilles pour qu'on les sculpte? I thought "amener" was used for people and animals. Shouldn't we use "apporter" here ?

Double negatives in EnglishI don't think that double negatives are bad English, but they should be avoided if they create ambiguity and unnecessary complexity. But "He couldn't not talk to me" conveys different information from "He could talk to me."

Connaître meaning

The question: Conjugate connaître (to meet) in the passé composé.

The answer: I met Leila at University = J'ai connu Leila à la fac.

I thought connaître meant "to know" ? I can't find any references to it meaning "to meet".
