What is the difference between these two and why isn't plusieurs an acceptable alternative.

"ses parents se sont embrassés"Literally, this sentence could mean 1. His parents kissed themselves; or 2, His parents kissed each other. But I cannot figure out how a person could kiss himself, so the 1st meaning makes no sense to me. So, in a multiple choice I would discard the 1st answer, but apparently I was wrong for not including it. Please explain.

pendant v. durant

A French national suggests that DURANT emphasizes the such and such occurs/occurred from the very beginning of the time interval to the very end, while PENDANT does not. This seems to be the difference between "I spent the entire week doing such and such" versus "I did such and such during the week."

If that it is the case, there may be value in adding that to the lesson. I have noticed BTW that DURANT appears in conversations much less that PENDANT, perhaps because of the nuance cited above.

I don’t think it is correct English to say ‘Merseyside comprises Liverpool’. One could possibly say ‘includes Liverpool’?Maybe it is a phrase that doesn’t directly translate?

Cases where both can be used?Elle n'attend pas grand-chose de lui. Elle ne s'attend pas à grand-chose de lui. Are both above phrases correct? If yes, do they mean differently? She doesn't expect much of him.

weekend writing challenge: question about past participle agreementBonjour!, Why didn't the correct answer have an extra "e" on the past participle in the following sentence please, when there is a direct pronoun "me" before the auxillary verb: "mon mari m’avait acheté une belle édition de la pièce d’Oscar Wilde “Salomé”, (mon mari m'avait achetée...?) (assumed that the writer is a woman as she speaks of her husband, & in fact we're later told that the writer is a woman). Cheryl
