"Ma copine Julie et moi nous adorons voyager..."

Is there a rule for when to repeat a compound subject (Julie et moi) with a single pronoun (nous)? It seems that sometimes you do it and sometimes you don't. Thanks!

Why "ça a été le coup de foudre" and not "c'était le coup de foudre"

I’ve noticed that ‘violet’ changes with gender and number too, despite being named after a real thing, like orange and rose. 

Is this correct?

It's more obvious when we're talking about a positive sentence like:

Multiple sources suggest both singular and plural verb forms are possible for ni l'un ni l'autre:

This question was found on a C1 test.  The answer that was provided was:  Nous avons ouvert les fenêtres de peur qu'il n'ait une fuite de gaz.

My problem is with the use of the word might.  Might means may be, could be, which suggests the use of pouvoir, de peur qu'il ne puisse y avoir une fuite de gaz.  When translating the answer that was given, I would say:  We opened the windows out of fear there was a gas leak.  No might is needed.

Why is it "le résultat en vaut la peine! " Where is the "de" it is replacing?

I am totallyconfused by some of your English translations for the Passive

eg

How are you differentiating in English between Passé Composé and the Imparfait?  Eg "Ils ont été accuellis par le xxx and "ils etaient accueillis par le xxx". You translate the second sentence in the tests as "They were welcomed by " but then how would you translate the first sentence??  When you ask fir a translation of "The boy was welcomed by" you can't mark it wrong if one gives answer in passé composé as opposed to "imparfait"?
