Greetings! Just a comment on the content of the article: Those who are ethically opposed to eating foie gras, if they are consistent in the application of those ethics, will probably also be ethically opposed to killing and eating saumon!  ;-)

Since the beginning of the festivities is a precise and limited event, I thought this would use passe compose "ont commencees." Can someone help me understand why this is imperfait?

And the last sentence: J'ai toujour trouve ca magique," I had thought this would be imparfait since it's ongoing and indefinite.

Is this grammatically correct for "After waking up, I'm grumpy."? 

p.s. this is a one-off event, not a recurring event. 

Hello! Why is timid spelled timide in this case? Wouldn’t timide be feminine agreement and not masculine - referring to Tom?

I have 2 questions
1-
can I use indirect object or direct object  before the verb for "penser à" when I talk about people? 
and what is the rule for 
Je pense à Lui(tom) 
je lui pense or je le pense?? (does it work with any of them?)
2-how can I inverted imperatif with penser à for people
pense à moi  or pense moi (whicj one is true?)

I am not sure when to use:  Leur/s, or les, for instance...is it leur with people and les with things?

c'est correct?  "et il a mangé tous ses céréales"

Why is it "C'est là que j'ai appris" and not "C'est là où j'ai appris"? 

In my readings of french, I come across this expression frequently, but it seems to have several different meanings.  I would appreciate a lesson on the many different meanings for "à peine".
