The two sentences below look almost exactly the same, in both 'they' know a fact (what time the shop closes).

Presumably, then, its just that in the 2nd sentence the verb is followed by a noun and that alone determins that 'conaitre' should be used, (and it's nothing to do with 'they' knowing a fact)?

Ils savent à quelle heure le magasin ferme. They know what time the shop closes.

Ils connaissent l'horaire de fermeture du magasin.
They know the shop closing time.

If I have "Je parle aux enfants" will it be

"Je leur parle" or "Je les parle" ?

When to use which?

“Je vais y aller avec toi.” Instead of (my version) “J’y vais aller avec toi.”

I was watching an interview with Amira Casar on Cinéma & Moi, and the host asked her, "Qu'est-ce que vous aimeriez voir au cinéma plus souvent?"  She answered, "Des scènes d'amour réussies... souvent c'est trop prude...c'est trop...il y a draps....j'y crois pas."  I guess my question is, why j'y crois pas here instead of je le crois pas?  Can both be used there?  Does j'y crois pas mean something different from je le crois pas?  (I don't believe it, don't believe them, it's not believable???)

In the C1 writing challenge "A Ghost Story" the partial sentence "While I was pulling weeds" in the context "While I was pulling weeds ... I heard..." was translated "Tandis que j'arrachais les mauvaises herbes". "Alors que" was also suggested but my answer "Pendant que" was not. Why is that?

Larousse (https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/anglais-francais/while/624050) translates "while" as "pendant que" when it refers to a simultaneity of time (e.g. pendant que vous serez à Londres il faut visiter le British Museum), whereas "tandis que" and "alors que" it says are applicable to the case where "while" is used in the sense of "whereas" (e.g. elle est de gauche tandis qu'il est conservateur).
