‘mais je suis arrivée un peu plus tard’

Do I not need to use ‘y’ as it means “to arrive there’? ‘mais j’y suis arrivée’?  Please explain. Thanks.

Order of indirect and direct object

You have these two examples:

 Ne la lui écris pas!  (Don't write it to her!)

Ne me le donne pas! (Don't give it to me!)

I see the underline under me le but I don't know how to interpret it.  In the first example you have direct object (la) then indirect object (lui).  In the second example the reverse: indirect object (me) then direct object (le).  Is there a rule here that I'm missing?

What exactly does this phrase mean?  I translate something like "Like a good granny cake".  What is a granny cake?

Susan suggested a great mnemonic not to mix up être and faire in the passé simple :"faire has an "i," être does not, so the passé simple of faire would have an "i," and the passé simple of être would not. It's a bit simplistic, but it helped me keep the two verbs straight until I didn't have to think about which was which any more."

Quelques, plusiers and distancethe green box refers to an example that hasn’t been mentioned...that of living a few or several streets away.  I see the two sentences further down in the last list but somehow in the editing process they were left out of the lesson

When does one use 'non' and when does one use "pas" to mean not, for example, in the sentence " Not only do I hate walnuts, but I also hate peanuts".

I was attempting this quiz on this link- https://progress.lawlessfrench.com/my-languages/french/tests/take/1768714 but was unable to get the last sentence.

- Alors nous devons compter sur ceux qui se battent à nos côtés et que je suis fier d’appeler mes collègues.

Why ‘que’ has been used? Can’t dont be used to mean ‘of whom’?

Faire with Musical Instruments?

Can Faire also be used with musical instruments similar to Jouer? Like -

- Je fais du violon.

- Je fais de la guitare. 

- Je fais de la flûte.

Can Faire & Jouer be used interchangeably with musical instruments? Or is there any exception to this?
