Another depuis-question!!!"I have lived in Paris for one year." means that the speaker has, in the past, lived in Paris but isn't living there anymore. Therefore, I would expect "J'ai habité à Paris depuis un an." to be the correct translation. But, alas, "J'habite à Paris depuis un an." is provided as correct. However, does that not imply that the speaker is still living in Paris???? -- Chris.

Dîner vs Déjeuner

Hi, I live in Québec and I've been here for quite a while now. Whenever people want to refer to lunch here, they use dîner. Déjeuner is used to mean breakfast, and souper is used to mean lunch. The test said I was wrong when I translated lunch as dîner and I understand that since in France it means a completely different mealtime. Just wanted to post this so that others could be aware of the different vocabulary we use in Québec, since it was really confusing to me for a long time.

French verbs that require an indirect object pronoun The French verb appeler, to call: if you wanted to say: "I am calling her", would you use a direct or an indirect object pronoun, please? .. Je l'appelle ? (l' = la: direct object pronoun)...or... Je lui appelle ? (lui = to her, indirect object pronoun). For example, you must use only an indirect object pronoun when using these verbs: écrire; envoyer; rendre, and many others, etc. What about this verb appeler, please? Calling her, or calling to her? She is lucky - elle est chanceuse."Elle est chanceuse" should be accepted too. The second link provided by Ron (https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english-french/lucky) event lists "chanceux" as translation of "lucky".
