In the sentence "...où j'ai vu les plus merveilleuses peintures préhistoriques de ma vie. ", why is tableaux not accepted as a synonym for peintures.  My dictionary makes no real distinction between the two words.

"Adverbs of place and certain adverbs of time usually FOLLOW the past participle: 

e.g. tard, tôt,... and some adverbs ending in -ment

Il est parti tard."

But the "correct"micro-quiz answer for the placement of "plus tard" is at the beginning or end of the sentence. Does adding "plus" modify the normal placement of "tard"? 

In the examples above the es in "tu es" is pronounced like the ê in êtes and also like the e in et. Is there a rule for which pronunciation to use when? Or is it more of a regional difference?

I’m having trouble figuring out why it’s je me fais FAIRE de nouvelles sandales. In other similar constructions, il se fait couper les cheveux, FAIRE isn’t necessary yet the meaning is similar in that they both are having something done. What am I missing?
