Cinq heures trente?
Why is
"cinq heures trente" not an acceptable way to say 5:30 am? I'm very
accustomed to the 24-hour clock, and it seems much more elegant than "cinq
heures et demie du matin", and unmistakably different from either
"cinq heures et demie du soir" or "dix-sept heures trente".
This question relates to:French lesson "Telling time in French - 24-hour clock rules = AM vs PM"

Bonjour Rob,
This lesson has been reworked and the questions from the kwiz have been updated to include a hint as to which "clock" (12 hr clock or 24hr clock) to use when necessary. We hope it clarifies any ambiguity from these lessons/questions regarding AM vs PM, 12 vs 24 hour clock :).
We hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
