I thought that to use the j’ that the silent “h” would be eliminated and if the “h” is not eliminated then it’s Je smh🤦🏽♀️
I wrote mon délicieux 'gratin dauphinois'. why was it marked incorrect?
Quizbot marked it wrong when I responded, “mais elle est meilleur maintenant”. QB said “va meilleur”. But the English doesn’t say she _feels_ better, it says she _is_ better. That takes a form of “aller” according to the lesson.
as we are taught that - qui & qui est -ce qui are same thing and refers to - "who " . So why the below ans is incorrect is the selected answer is "qui est -ce qui " instead of" qui "
The correction says ‘ils reflètent souvent les problèmes de la socíété” but isn’t it “ils réfléchissent”? My Bescherelle says it’s an ‘ir’ verb… réfléchir. Thanks.
I am confused. All the lessons on "Avoir du mal" imply that it's a fixed expression. So I wrote "J'ai toujours du mal" even though I was hearing "..de mal.."
What's going on here? Is it "avoir du mal" being used here, or is it another construction altogether ?
I'm confused here. All the lessons on "avoir du mal" suggest that it's a fixed expression. I therefore wrote "J'ai toujours un peu du mal..." even though I was hearing "...de mal".
What's going on here? I don't really understand. Is this "avoir du mal" or something else entirely?
Pourquoi "il fallait que je lave ton plat" au lieu de "il a fallu que ..."? C'est une action précise, achevée, accomplie ... Merci.
Re: saying "et demi", "moins quart", etc., this appears to be regional. In my experience, this phrasing is very common in Canada, but unheard of in Suisse Romande and the surrounding French border regions where it is more common to say e.g. "midi trente" for 12:30 or "midi quinze" for 12:15.
At this point (since January 26th, 2026), attending a level of French comprehension B1 is not sufficient ; one must get a B2
