What is wrong with using an abbreviation?

Re the question below I was marked wrong for using "2m" instead of "2 mètres"? Yet I've seen this abbreviation used in other questions. Surely the question was testing my knowledge of dimension words and my answer is correct?
La voiture de Jim fait ________.Jim's car is 2 meters wide.2 mètres de large 2m de large
