Can you explain why passé composé is used to translate 'I didn't have the time before my trip'? I always make this mistake because I think that the speaker means they didn't have the time for an extended period of time and I often think that imparfait should be used in those cases.

Using "dont"

Hi, in the example "François, dont j'ai rencontré la femme le mois dernier", can one say "François, dont la femme j'ai rencontré le mois dernier"?

Pronunciation of "ben"

Admittedly, I'm more used to Québécois French, but the recording contains what has to be one of the oddest pronunciations of "ben" I have heard. I expect it to rhyme with "hein" or "en", but I swear the recording is closer to "bamme" than anything else. 

Am I missing something, or has my ear glitched? Please let me know.

Je mange plein de barbe à papa

Would it be, then, "je mange plein de chocolat" or "plein de chocolats"?  "Plein de pomme de terre" or "plein de pommes de terre"?  Thanks in advance.

Hint for Cyril

Hi, normally, there is a hint when a proper name is used, but not in this case for Cyril. Is that intentional? Are we supposed to be good enough by now to pick up proper names?  :)
