I'm super confused about when to put an indefinite article before a noun like dancer, skater, singer. I know you are never supposed to use it when speaking about your profession. Je suis chanteuse. But, what if you are talking about a student. Il est élève? Is student a profession and what if that student does extracurriculars like ice skating? Il est un patineur sur glace or Il est patineur sur glace. How do you say you are a student but you are also a singer or a soccer player or a swimmer.
Pourquoi est-ce qu'on écrit "ma sœur ou moi allumions une bougie à tour de rôle" C'est seulement une des sœurs qui fait la tâche.. donc , logiquement "allumer" serait au singulier???????
What is the negation of c’est vrai monsieur
In the imperative, what is the rule for pronouncing the letter vs the letter sound ? I’ve heard both and don’t understand the difference.
Hello,
I had a question on this translation: I don't remember this film.
Why does it translate to: Je ne me souviens pas de ce film. I don't understand the placement of the 'de'?
Thank you!
FR: J'ai aussi du champagne au frigo.
Why is ''aussi'' used here even though ''also'' isn't mentioned in the English sentence? Am I missing something?
Would it be acceptable to say « une question très dure » instead of « très difficile »? If not, what is the difference between dure and difficile?
Sarah ne faisait pas confiance à Thomas.
Sarah didn't use to trust Thomas. In French can you really express the idea of “used to” (do something) just by using the past imperfect tense (as here)? Or does it need “avoir l’habitude de …” ? Is there a difference in meaning in French? Merci
J'ai beaucoup apprécié ce texte parce que j'ai oublié beaucoup du film. Maintenant, je me souviens du personnage principal, je veux regarder le film à nouveau. Merci beaucoup !
