I came across ‘je ne pense pas qu’ils auraient reussi à s’arracher à lui s’il était revenu.’  (Harry Potter translation).  Although penser when negated takes the subjunctive is the subjunctive not used when a conditional tense is needed? I guess I’m not sure whether tenses change the use of the subjunctive. I read the future changes to the present to us the subjunctive. 

Hello, please explain why s’agit à construction was used in the phrase « Il s'agissait à l'origine d'une cérémonie honorant l'explorateur René Robert Cavelier«

I translated this as 'Il était incroyable hier' - but it was marked wrong, citing the correct answer as, 'Il a été hier'    why? Even when I put it into a translator it says it should be était. What am I missing?

Just curious about Mathieu being 'in a team'.  Is that how the french describe team membership?  In US we say, 'on a team'.
