passé composé or imparfait?

Bonjour!

How best to translate this sentence please? : "Were you there before?" - Etais-tu là avant? (or) As-tu été là avant?

and the same sentence in the negative: "Weren't you there before?" - N'étais-tu pas là avant? (or) N'as-tu pas été là avant?

I thought se coucher means "to go to bed" so it should not be necessary also to use the verb aller!

Hi. I am confused about some of the sentences in this lessonSome sentences seem very similar to "will have" (futur antérrior) and I can't tell the difference. For example: Apparemment, ils seraient partis ce matin. Apparently, they would have left this morning. Selon Tom, elles seraient rentrées chez elles vers 3 heures. According to Tom, they would have come home around 3. Why would you not say"According to Tom, they will have come home around 3" or "Apparently they will have left this morning"?

Abbreviation for heure and spelling rules

Are there rules about when to use the abbreviation for heure? For example, huit heure or 8h or huit h. Also, when typing 8h is there a space between the number and the abbreviation or no space (8h or 8 h)?

I thought we weren't supposed to use ma, mon, mes for one's own body parts in French? Wasn't there a lesson on that?
