Inversion of the subject /verb when asking questions

Bonjour! I have not studied For over 20 years, and I'm trying to learn the things that I have forgotten, as well as to expand my ability. Could you please answer my question about inverting the subject and the verb when asking questions? I was taught that one would say "Faites-vous vos devoirs?" Or "Fais-tu tes devoirs?" When asking questions. Even asking someone their name I've always known that to be Comment vous appelez-vous? In the formal and Comment t'appelles-tu? In the familiar. Why is this method not followed here in the studies? It has me very confused about what I've learned in highschool and I feel like I'm learning a totally different language. Thank you for letting me ask this question here. I don't know where else to ask it.

Avant que + ne expletif + subjunctiveI realise that this is a question about "avant que + ne expletif + subjunctive" but if the subject is the same in both clauses can we not also use "avant de venir" instead? Avant que je ne vienne, je dois acheter des fleurs. or Avant de venir, je dois acheter ds fleurs.

why not he climbed down the magic beanstalk?"In another example I read that Jacques est descendu de l'arbre means Jack climbed down the tree. So why cannot Jacques est descendu du haricot magique mean Jack climbed down the magic bean as well as Jack got off the magic beanstalk?" In the quiz I took, I was told it was wrong.

I just don't understand why this sentence uses an adverb, rather than an adjective :

Ta télé est bien, mais la mienne est mieux.
I would think it'd use : Ta télé est bonne, mais la mienne est meilleure.
