3rd person plural possessive for a plural nounThere was a question on a recent quiz as follows: "Il faut qu'ils obtiennent leur permis de conduire," with English translation something like "They have to get their driving license." The quiz question was about the subjunctive of obtenir (which I got right), but I am just wondering about the use of leur rather than leurs. Translated strictly, I suppose leur is correct, but in both English and French I would have thought "their driving licenses = leurs permis de conduire" would be more accurate, since they each need to have their own license, not a single license among them? In the example above ‘Il trouvé que c’est une belle maison’, shouldn’t the translation be ‘He thinks it is a beautiful house’

Placement of 'certain'One B1 exercise has us translate "There is some risk". I think the translation depends on where you put the stress: "There is SOME risk" i.e. some uncertainty about the risk: Il y a un certain risque. Or alternatively "There IS some risk". Now the risk is certain: Il y a un risque certain.

Il m'a laissé tomber

The storyteller is a woman. So, why isn't it "Il m'a laissée tomber"? The direct object is a woman (feminine) and it appears before avoir in the passé composé.
