Query regarding ceci/cela/çaBonjour Madame Cécile !
In a quiz, I was given the following sentences->
1. Ils sont riches. J'ai lu ________ quelque part.
(They're wealthy. I read that somewhere.)
Now, the correct answer was cela/ça. Though I got it right but I would like to ask why “ceci” is inappropriate.
2. Elle pourra partir plus tôt : je lui ai promis ________. (She will be able to leave earlier: I promised her that.)
Here, too I would question whether “ceci” is acceptable or not.
3. ________ sera prévu. (It will be taken care of. )
The accurate answer is “Ce” but why can’t one use “Ça/Ceci/Cela” .

When do you use “appelez”
Il ne mange des pâtes que le samedi. He eats pasta only on Saturdays.
Not sure the English is quite right there.. shouldn't it be he only eats pasta on Saturday.. he eats pasta only means he eats nothing else
l ne mange que des pâtes le samedi. He eats only pasta.... That is correct and is synonymous with he eats only
The French looks very clear.. it is the English that is impossible!
When does one use 'non' and when does one use "pas" to mean not, for example, in the sentence " Not only do I hate walnuts, but I also hate peanuts".
Why is voeu used instead of souhait
