The writing challenge "A few days in Dordogne" expected "ferme" for "farmhouse" and rejected "maison de ferme".
Why is that?
I seem to be going backwards, losing confidence by the day with this lesson. Very disappointed in the content and exercises. This system of questions seems to be hurting me more than helping,
It’s like the rules change every time I read this lesson.
Regretting paying for a whole year.......
I have a point to make about the English. It involves a very common mistake. When using a gerund it should be modified by an adjective. From the examples above: It has been a day without him eating is not correct, it should be; It has been a day without his eating. He came without your knowing. I won`t leave without your kissing me goodbye. etc.
Hello, i'm probably getting ahead of myself (only been studying French for 2 months) but wanted to see if anyone would be willing to let me know if I'm correct or not on below conjugations.
I ate = j'ai mangé
I was eating / used to eat = je mangaisI should eat = je devrais mangerI will eat = je mangeraiI should not eat = je ne devrais pas mangerI will have eaten = j'aurai mangéI will not have eaten yet = je n'aurai pas mangé encoreI had eaten = j'avais mangéI had not eaten yet = je n'avais mangé encoreI have to eat = je doit mangerI can't eat right now = je ne peux pas manger maintenant/tout de suite?I should have eaten = j'aurais pas dû mangerIt seems in general that "should" future uses conditional present and "should" future uses conditional past.I apologize in advance if this is too much for a single post :(why is it fais instead of fait
I'm reading an example using merci de with an action already done. It says to use Merci de + [Infinitif Passé] and gives the following example:
C'était très difficile, merci de m'avoir aidée.
Please, can you explain why aidée is feminine?
