Correct translation of ski-boot

I have checked with 3 different dictionaries i.e. Le Robert de Poche, Harrap’s Shorter French and English dictionary and Wordreference online. Each one defines ski boot as “après-ski” as opposed to “botte de neige” .

Which is the correct response?

ne explétifIsn't it also correct to use the ne explétif? "J'ai eu peur que nous ne soyons arrivés trop tard." I entered this and it was marked wrong. Thanks.

Why wouldn't you abbreviate ta or ton to t' before a vowel?

Marcel sera rentré d'ici une heure.Je comprends qu'on veut dire qu'il sera rentré chez lui <within et by>. Mais, je ne crois pas qu'il soit une difference entre les deux. On dit en anglais, il sera rentre chez lui dans une heure...? Ça veut dire <he will be home in one hour ou quoi?
