How do we know where to place adverb correctly in sentences like below?
"Mais on aime tous les deux BEAUCOUP le train fantôme," instead of "Mais on aime BEAUCOUP tous les deux le train fantôme."
Bonjour!
Can you give some more examples for this lesson because I did not understand this lesson.
Merci!
You really need to work on these types of exercises. Sometimes if there are two example sentences and you write one word from example one but the rest of your sentence matches example two, it marks that sentence wrong even though it is right. You need to include every combination of correct sentences!
Combien a coute construire la tour Eiffel?
My question is about a quiz question in this unit: "J'ai décidé d'apprendre à jouer du piano cette année." How do you know it's "apprendre *à* jouer" instead of "apprendre *de* jouer," for example. I think that French verbs differ in this respect, but I haven't seen any systematic explanation of it, and I don't even know how to talk about it in a way that could make internet search productive. Do you have any teaching materials about this, or can you help me to understand it better? Thanks in advance.
Can we use instead of il y a + duration, Avant+ duration?
1. In your final translation you say “ je traverserais la ville sur une gondale “, which I understand, but could you say “ je traverserais la ville en gondale “ for “ I would cross the city by gondola “
2. My dictionary translates “ a feathered headdress “ as “ une coiffure “ and describes “ une coiffe “ as a lace headdress. Can I get away with simply stating “une coiffure” or do I need to clarify further with “ à plume “ ?
Agreed. Both choices are corrrect and depend on the context. The same would apply when using ancienne. One could say "mon ancienne voiture" or "ma voiture ancienne", depending on the circumstances. Is it my old car or my prior car?
