As far as I can tell from elsewhere, when année dernière is pluralized, as in "the last few years," and the translation involves those specific two words ("les quelques dernières années," "ces dernières années") the order here is also an exception, no?

This is a really interesting query (especially as it is quite common in French)! I'm sorry we did not respond earlier.
