Bonjour,
Thank you for this fun little story about the fall. Just a couple of questions:
I wrote "devenir malade" which was marked as wrong. I understand that "tomber malade" is a common expression, but couldn't you use "devenir" as well as "tomber" or "etre"?
Also, I used "soigneux" instead of "prudent". And, I believe "Je fais beaucoup d'attention" is correct, too.
Merci tout le monde,
Hilary
How do you know when to use the subjunctif présent?
I've encountered confusing hints in several writing exercises. As in this one: it says at one point "use 'les châtaignes'" when the correct answer is "des châtaignes." This is just one example of several unreliable hints.
This is one of the examples on the lesson: C'est une bonne nageuse. (She is a good swimmer.). I thought c'est had to be used with masculine only?
"When using il/elle, you have to make adjectives agree accordingly, whereas you always use the masculine with c'est."
Would it be possible add these words to the bank vocab list (from the listening exercise).
prêt, échéances, locaux, dossier, vos coordonnées,
When asked for "Of course" why is certainement not an acceptable answer? It seems like a better choice than évidemment as the latter implies an obviousness to the thing asked (to get closer) where certainement just carries a higher degree of being able to do so. Can you clarify? Thank you.
The second singular person of the verb "To have", in French, ends with "s", and I thought that if after a word ending in s, or even x(?), there is a word starting with a vocal, or y, then to pronunce correctly you have to do the "liaison". Then why in this case we don't do that? may be because it's a verb?
I asked a question here about a wrong answer that I was confused by but I got the question again and realized I must have just typed my answer wrong the first time because what I thought was correct was indeed correct the second time. However, this program is not allowing me to delete my original question, only edit it, which is why you are reading this.
so basically you must memorize every noun's gender (le "noun", la "noun") to be able to use partitive articles correctly?
Just curious - is there a difference in the pronunciation of these two phrases ?
