Hi Judy,
It depends on which tablet you have so if you can be more specific we should be able to help you.

Judy, just press the letter you want for a couple seconds. You will see the letter with all possible accents then move your curser to the one you want. Then just click on the letter with the accent you want. That works on my MacBook and most others.
