Bonjour Anne,

In French, "etc" is most likely read if it is written down. Also, you can express "..."  by saying "etc" when you're speaking about a list of things which you're not going to enumerating fully.

Thank you. Something else was bothering me in this exercise - is it usual to render a written ellipsis … as "etcétéra" when spoken? Apologies for another question.
