I translated ancient crater as "cratère ancien", but the answer guide has "ancien cratère". The lesson about "ancien" says that it means "ancient" after the noun, but "former" before. Why is it before the noun here?
I think there is a mistake made regarding 'ces 'which is translated as those and not these.
Hi, I just came across this on a test and I wrote that it could mean Jack descended on the giant (as opposed to the stairs ) and this was marked incorrect but in the explanation it states that they descended the stairs requires avoir as the auxillary verb so I cannot see why descending on the giant is any different? They both have a direct object.

One of the possible answers for the end of the last sentence was I believe "...dès que je peux" for the translation of "as soon as I can". I chose pourrais instead of peux because I thought the sentenced implied an action in the future. I was a bit surprised to see a present tense used here. Can you explain why present is preferable to future?
Is there a reason "he'll be back" is translated once as "il sera de retour" and once as "il sera revenu"? Or are they simply alternatives?

The phrase “In case I’m late, I’ll take my keys.” Is shown to be correctly translated as:
“Au cas où je serais en retard, je prendrai mes clés.”
My answer, “Au cas où je suis en retard . . . “ was marked incorrect. Why?
To me, “I’m late” translates to “I am late.”
While doing this exercise, it went right on to the next section without giving me the chance to compare my answer or give myself a score on two of the sections. Hence the score of 50 out of 60. No big deal, since this was a very simple lesson for me. (Although it was useful in learning and recognizing the names of brands of beer, even though I don't drink beer!) I just want to do all of the listening exercises for practice.
I simply wonder what might have happened.?
