This sentence ending with “où” to me sounds unfinished. Is this considered informal speech? I feel like “où” is serving as a conjunction here… Is this a fixed phrase? Like the rest of the sentence is implied or used to be stated and now it dropped? For example, something like “…au cas où (il me faudrait)”

In one of the examples above:
Maintenant que ses parents n'étaient plus là, elle devait s'occuper de sa sœur.
However I'm confused because it states that Devoir with l'imparfait is "was supposed to [do]", however the translation is:
Now that her parents were gone, she had to take care of her sister.
Why is it not:
Now that her parents were gone, she was supposed to take care of her sister.

I've been following the Kwiziq recommended study plan and have mastered the level A0 topics. I've managed to get my score to 100% for the entire A0 level. However, Kwiziq still recommends level A0 lessons no matter how many tests I take. Will Kwiziq eventually start putting level A1 lessons into my study plan? Or do I have to do something to toggle it?

Hi there,
can anybody help with why que appears in the following sentence, please? "Tu dormiras dans le meme hotel que la derniere fois". The translation I have is "will you sleep in the same hotel as last time". I've not come across que as a translation for 'as' before.

I’m finding the use of the subjunctive past for future actions unexpectedly tricky, I think because the English "I need to leave by nine" or "they need us to arrive", already includes the idea of a completed future action (you can’t leave without having left or arrive without having arrived!)
Is the subjunctive present ever an option in this type of sentence or is the subjunctive past mandated?

I have seen the phrase avoir à a couple times, and I was wondering how it differs from il faut and devoir - is it a less formal version of both of them, a more informal iteration of only one, or is it a completely different idea that it expresses
Is it incorrect to use "Est-ce quoi la Sorbonne?". It was marked incorrect on a quiz. Is that because I can't invert c'est in this case?

I'm confused why the response given is : "nous allons aussi nous inscrire à la gym." Shouldn't it be "nous allons aussi nous inscrirer à la gym" with an infinitive in the same way that the alternative choice is "nous allons aussi nous abonner à la gym"?
