Suzanne adore les vêtements oranges.There is a question about this and my response (above) was incorrect. Is les vêtements an exception to adding the ‘s’ at the end to orange? I couldn’t see the exception in the discussion. Thanks.

Purpose of rendu

'Nous t'avons rendu visite il y a une semaine.'

What is the purpose of rendu in this sentence if visiter can be used as a verb? Possible to say “Nous t’avons visité il y a une semaine”

Nous sommes professeurs

In a very recent quiz, the possible people the above statement referred to were a) two males b) a male and female c) two females. I got it wrong as I did not click on option c). As Chris mentioned (below) if there is a trend to gender this noun, should  "professeure/s" be used or mentioned as an alternative?  ( It did appear in Google translate)

Ne que vs seulementJe trouve que l’utilisation de ‘ne serait que pour les garder en vie’ is unnecessarily complicated given the context of the sentence.  My preference would be ‘pour seulement les garder en vie’.  But I like your emphasis on the use and position of seulement and que.  The vast majority of English speakers position the word ‘only’ incorrectly.  It drives me crazy!

Je m'y connais en ...

I understand that this is an idiomatic phrases that means "I know something about ..."  Just curious.  How do the reflexive "me" and the preposition "y" refer to or mean?  "I am familiar with myself" and "at ... in that area"?  The "y" seems redundant since you say "en moteurs" at the end.  Why not, "je me connais en moteurs."
