Another question ...
I noticed that there is no liaison between pas and assez in the audio of this lesson, but they also can be read as "pazassez", right?
Merci!
This is still being marked as incorrect. If it is, please explain clearly why; if it is not please fix the problem with the questions related to this topic - it is confusing enough to follow without having repeated confusion added by incorrect marking. I have checked previous answers and it was stated that it was correct but marked wrong for repeating words from the question - but the question was to write "What is the Sorbonne" in French. Fairly difficult to leave Sorbonne out of the answer.
Following on from the answer below; how do you then say "I like THE carrots" (i.e. the carrots I have on my plate right now)?
To say, 'I like carrots', you have to use the definite article, les and say -
J'aime les carottes
It sort of indicates in French that you like all the carrots in the world. very strange!
Des is a partitive article meaning 'some' so you might say -
Je voudrais des carottes, s'il vous plait = I'd like some carrots, please
or
Donnez-moi des carottes = Give me some carrots
According to Cecile's response and Lawless French there should be an 'S' with quatre-vingts. If so, this lesson may need a tweak!
Please how will I know this word is a masculine or féminine nous
j'ai trente ans, je n'ai pas vingt-neuf ans.
