mieux instead of meilleureHere's an example from your quiz: "Annette est meilleure en natation que Julie." Since we're referring to "swimming", a verb...wouldn't we use "mieux" here instead of "meilleure?

Today's insightA way to simplify things is to think of short phrases as if they were single words. "il y a" is an obvious example. With "j'ai" as a single word, one does not have to think about the rule were the terminating vowel of a word must be replaced with an apostrophe when the next word begins with a vowel. And with "ce qui est", one does not need to think about the rules about when to use "ce que" vs "ce qui".

amener vs emmener

In the sentence "C'est la dernière fois que je t'amène avec moi !" Would "emmener" (= to take a person) be a better choice of verb?

So can dans be replaced with apres to mean the same thing here?

We will eat in an hour's time/after an hour,
" Nous mangerons dans une heure/apres une heure. "

If so, saying this would make the lesson easier to grasp, because dans and en mean practically the same thing when en means in in my head.

Countries and regions

So Mexique, Cambodge, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Belize are masculine although they end in -e; Qubec, Texas and New Mexico are countries but California is not. It's le Merseyside but not le Bordeaux. Turkey is outside Europe (not entirely I think) and a turkey is from India. You really couldn't make up something more ridiculous than this if you tried.

I felt I was making good progress with this course but now I am bogged down with endless questions about places that don't interest me and loosing the will to live. I accept that fluent french speakers may need this but I can barely conjugate faire yet, surely this content should be moved to C1?

I am going to write myself out a big crib sheet and cheat - hopefully I can convince the quizzbot I know this stuff so I can move on to something more useful.
