L'année dernière, j'ai été vraiment malade vs L'année dernière, j'étais vraiment maladeSimilar question to Clif... Is the second option acceptable, and if so, is there any difference in meaning/emphasis? I was taught that j'ai été vraiment malade was used more to express "I have been really ill" in a sentence such as "Sorry I haven't been to see your recently, but I've been really ill" ...... is that correct? Also, is it grammatically correct (and common usage) to say: j'ai été mangé (I have been eating) Thanks in advance

ajoute v rajoute

Could you please explain the difference in meaning between ajoute and rajoute, according to Collins On Line Dictionary they both mean the same thing. Here are the 2 answers from the exercise: -

À la fin, elle rajoute de la cannelle.' 'A la fin, elle ajoute de la cannelle.'

ALSO in the two sentences, one of them has A and the other has À. Is this an error? If not please explain why both are correct.

C'est moi qui payeWhy can't you just say Je paye? Or someone corrected me after I said that my small daughter is ill (La petite est malade <- wrong, C'est la petite qui est malade <- why?)
