In the sentence 'La musique représente également un moteur de créativité' why is the definite article not used before 'créativité'? I feel a French sentence about creativity would probably begin 'La créativité...'
how would i translate smth like “I love my mother, but I don’t like her.” thankd
One of the quiz questions was "Le Comte Dracula habite _____________ Roumanie.
I wrote "en la" because I assumed, per the regular rule, that Romania is feminine (therefore takes -en) and is a country, not a city, and would require the article "la". Since the sentence is not about going-to or coming/being-from, it would require the article, n'est-ce pas?
I cannot understand at all what the difference is between the phrases below using plaire. It seems to me both are possible but only one is correct according to Kwiziq:
Ce restaurant nous plait vs Ce restaurant plait a nous
Please forgive the lack of accents
Bonjour madame et mademoiselle! Je m'appelle Hang. Je viens de Danang, Vietnam.
In the expression above--Elle marche plus lentement que moi--the speaker pronounces the "e" of "marche," which is to be silent. Can you please explain this?
Bonsoir, je ne comprends rien
Google translates "tu dois du repos" as "you need some rest." But it sounds like Kwiziq only wants us to use devoir before an infinitive. However, the lesson only says "sometimes you can use devoir" without any explanation or examples. Despite the fact that multiple people have been complaining about this for years!
I think also the English translation might be tripping me up in certain instances. Like "you need to take a day off" in English uses the infinitive verb "to take" but in French it's "you need " which is a noun. It would be nice if the lesson explained that.
I hate having to just memorize the quiz maker's answer without understanding why Kwiziq thinks it's correct.
