Incidentally there’s a very rare type of severe throat infection known as "Vincent’s angina" in English. I find from the internet that it’s named after a French epidemiologist with the magnificent name of Jean Hyacinthe Vincent.

Using "non" to replace "n'est-ce pas"

What about adding "non" at the end of a question when seeking confirmation?

Such as "Tu parles anglais, non?" as a shorthand for "Tu parles anglais, n'est-ce pas?"

NE PAS VOULOIRJe ne veux pas parler avec elle means I REFUSE to speak with her. NE PAS VOULOIR always entails a refusal. To say I don't want to talk with her would be Je n'ai pas envie de parler avec elle. Does any one disagree with the above? This seems pretty fundamental.

I don't grasp the difference between "pouvez-vous m'aider" and "pourriez-vous m'aider", or would you just not say the first one?
