Je viens d'Omaha.
mais
Je viens de Hong Kong.
pourquoi il n'est pas
Je viens d'Hong Kong?
I was marked wrong for "Audrey adore les mercredis". It wanted "Audrey adore le mercredi". But it appears from the web that both are used, even if the singlar version is more popular.
"J'aime le mercredi" has 232,000 hits
"J'aime les mercredis" has 43,300 hits
So shouldn't this lesson cover the duality and shouldn't the quiz question accept both answers?
Bonjour,
Why "Il est sept heures et demie du soir." is right (in the test)?Like Debra said below: When using the 24-hour clock (13h, 14h, ...), you don't use et quart, et demie, moins le quart.
But it is 7:30 pm... and it uses with et demie... Why?
Merci beaucoup!
In Germany "ein Pfund" (a pound) is used for 500 gm (one pound = approx. 454 gm). Do the French use "une livre" this way? If not, what would they sell by the pound instead of by the kilo?
