Future tenseThe Lawless site says “the historical future is mainly used to emphasize events sandwiched between passages in the present or passé simple”. Why then is the final paragraph in this excerpt in future tense?

in this sentence from a roman policier La salle des meurtres by Phyllis Dorothy James

L’appartement, qui donnait sur Kensington High Street, arborait l’ordre excessif et impersonnel d’un logement préparé pour la visite de nouveaux locataires. L’atmosphère était un peu confinée ; bien qu’occupant un étage élevé, Dupayne avait pris la précaution de fermer ou de verrouiller toutes les fenêtres avant de partir en week-end.

Here bien que was not followed by subjonctif ! is that correct ? and would you replace it by bien qu'occupant un étage élevé, Dupayne ait pris la précaution .....

When to use Future or Present tense

Hi, I don't really understand when to use the present tense and when to use the future tense after "prochain". eg L'année prochaine, il commence l'université AND En septembre prochain, Gareth visitera Madrid. In fact I'm a bit vague on Future/Present options in general....A pointer towards a lesson would be appreciated, Thanks.

Direction of accentsLooking at “Bien sûr, je préfèrerais que les animaux puissent vivre en liberté” I see that the “future stem” (not sure if this is the correct term) is “préfèrer…”, but in WordReference dictionary it is “préférer…”. Are both acceptable?

Pourquoi on ne peut pas écrire?

1)Après être séparé au lieu de après s’être séparé. Dans la premiere option est-ce qu'il faut un objet....après être séparé de .... qqchose

2)six mois avant au lieu de six mois plus tôt?

3)That was the last time we played matchmakers

j'ai ecrit

c’était la dernière fois qu'on a joué les matchmakers.(c'est acceptable??)
