'You don't have to'Something I've always struggled with in France is when I don't want to say 'You must not', but rather 'You don't have to', for example: I don't want to say, 'You must not come straight away', but rather, 'You don't have to come straight away'. Can somebody point me to a good lesson on this, or let me know how to do it?

What about negative sentences referring to body parts?Which is correct and what references can you provide to convince my teacher? Elles n'ont pas les yeux verts? Elles n'ont pas des yeux verts? Elles n'ont pas d'yeux verts?

colors and genders

I don't understand why the sentence to translate talks about my favorite colors (couleur is feminine), but then the colors are listed in the masculine form.  And, the "title" of the grammar point says that colors agree according to gender and number.

mauvais an adverb here?: "Il faisait mauvais hier"

Bonjour,

Mauvais is usually an adjective, but is it being used as an adverb when we say the weather is bad?

e.g. il fait mauvais.

or is it still being an adjective, and is modifying the noun: 'the weather' (replaced here by the pronoun: "it"), please?

Please translate "I am not going to Australia for a few years."Does "depuis" always imply a past tense meaning so that it cannot be used in this sentence with the present tense of "aller?" Should the futur proche or the futur be used? Perhaps "Tu ne vas pas en Australie depuis quelques années, should probably avoided unless it is put in a specific context. Thanks.

Nettoie vs nettoyeNettoye the lesson gives Nettoye as the alternate spelling of nettoie but the quiz doesn't follow your lesson...I tried it just to see if it would be accepted...surely it should be marked "correct"

Il est arrivé le dernier jour de la semaine ___. ( dernière )'dernier'=last refers to the word le jour. and the later is masculine. Why is it to be made feminine? as was suggested in the test answer. Request clarification.
