Favourite clearing

In the exercise:

“the one which ran along the stream up to her favourite clearing.”

translates to:

“celui qui longeait le ruisseau jusqu'à sa petite clairière favorite.”

Is the use of ‘petite’ in order to indicate affection for the clearing, thereby emphasising that it is a ‘favourite’ place? I’m wondering how to interpret it, as the English doesn’t contain the adjective ‘little’ or ‘small’.

Translation of ”Let’s go there together tomorrow"

Since the paragraph was using 'on' consistently, I chose "On y va ..." instead of "Allons-y ...". Why is this wrong?

If I remind you of your nanny is 'Je vous rappelle votre nounou.' What is 'I remind your nanny of you'? Is it 'Je rappelle vous à votre nounou' but I don't think this is correct!

Passé simpleLes deux chiens se fixèrent avec méfiance.The two dogs stared at each other suspiciously.
I have been trying to understand what “fixerent” means/where it comes from (please excuse lack of accents in my question). At first I thought the translation should be the two dogs stare or are staring at each other.I then found a conjugation table and found “fixerent” (with the accent over the e) is passé simple.I have only just been moved up to “B2” level on Kwiziq but I don’t understand how the passé simple is used and so don’t follow it’s use within this lesson.Why is it not passé compose using etre?Thanks for your assistance.

Use of "en" with "ni l'un(e) ni l'autre"

In this example, "Il a acheté deux burritos, mais il n'a mangé ni l'un ni l'autre", would it be equally correct to add "en": "Il a acheté deux burritos, mais il n'en a mangé ni l'un ni l'autre"? And why isn't it necessary anyway?

Gender AssumptionAprès être [venu/e] me voir jouer, elles étaient très enthousiastes . Does this question actually provide enough information on which to judge the gender of the speaker? The answer seems to assume that the speaker is feminine merely because the audience is feminine.
