English translation - subject/object confusion In the above statement: Cher Matt, chère Kate, vous me manquez. is translate to: Dear Matt, dear Kate, I miss you. Why wouldn't it translate to: You miss me? I am having difficulty sorting the word order required in French for this English translation. Thank you

EN famille vs AVEC famille vs AVEC VOTRE famille.

Did some reading and it seems that if you are talking about 'YOUR own family' you use EN FAMILLE.. if the activity excluded anyone BUT family. If you are talking about someone else's family or using a possessive pronoun (he ate with HIS family=AVEC sa famille/he ate with the Jones family = avec la famille Jones/I ate with (my) family= j'ai mange en famille. If this is correct why then did Monsieur Dulac not say "Alors, je vous souhaite un bon weekend avec ta famille". Is it because this interpretation is "a good family weekend"; a compound noun with EN; rather than "a good weekend with family". Or is my reading /premise wrong?

Hers or someone else's catIn the context of this statement one assumes Marie is caressing her own cat yet when put in the passive voice it could read as though the cat belongs to someone else...maybe not a great example

Direct vs indirect object

Bonjour,

There was a sentence I was working on

Do not call them after eight P.M! For this sentence the answer was

Ne Les appelle pas après huit du soir. Are they using Les here as the direct object because their is no preposition for it to be indirect?

Also why is the pronoun y in this sentence after the conjugated verb?

Tu devrais y prêter attention?
