A small typo noticed

Bonjour,

In the sentence from the lesson which reads-

“Vous allez aux Etats-Unis.” Here the acute accent on ‘E’ is missing . Should it not be as “États-Unis”?

Confused about when to use definite article

Bonjour,

I've read the comments but I'm still confused. On a test question, I was marked wrong for writing "Je n'aime ni les pommes ni les poires" when asked to translate "I eat neither apples or pears".

This seems to me like a general statement and not referring to specific apples or pears, so why would the only accepted answer be "Je n'aime ni pommes ni poires"?

Bon soir. On the video in this lesson I would like to see if I understood well. On fait que ce l'on peut. Mange-t-on du riz. The "l" is used to avoid two vowels crashing into eachother and the "t" ??? I've seen the "t" more often than the "l". They are only for a more harmonious flow of the spoken language, but how do you know which to use when?
