I do not understand this one. Rendre means "to return"? so this means "You returned to visit Paula" but it states "You visited Paula".

Why is this sentence "Tu m'as bien aidé cette semaine-là." translated as last week and not that week? Merci!

Grammatical description of immediate future

I’m interested to know if this common usage of "a present tense for the immediate future" has a snappier grammatical name in either English or French? Also just to check I have this right: it’s an informal way to talk about events that are both soon and definite.

What is this / What is that?

I just want to clarify can the following be either, 'what is this' or 'what is that?' If not, how do you change the sentence to be one or the other?

Or is it it for example:

qu'est-ce que c'est : What is that?

qu'est-ce que c'est que cela: What is this?

Qu'est-ce que c'est que cela ?What is that? / What is this?Qu'est-ce que c'est que ça ?What is that? / What is this?C'est quoi ça ?What is this? / What is that?

longeur vs long

Bonjour

If voiture is feminine then isn't the use of longeur for wide correct. I was marked wrong.

Problem with verb rester

It is not verb “être”. Then why are you using un and not de in the example “il rester un ami loyal” and “il ne reste pas un ami loyal”

Why not “il ne reste pas d’ami loyal

Translate "He's giving it to us"

I thought the answer would be: Il le nous donne. But LawlessFrench said the answer was: Il nous le donne.

Isn't the direct object "it" or "le" and isn't the indirect object "us" or "nous"? Doesn't the direct object come before the indirect object?

Why "vous aurez" and Not "tu auras".________ ta chambre, nous irons au cinéma.When you've tidied up your room, we'll go to the cinema.I answered "Quand vous aurez rangé" and the correct answer given was "Quand tu auras rangé" . There is no indication in the question to the use of singular or plural ! In fact the use of "nous" indicates to the use of "formal".

Or all three together - why not "ou tous les trois ensemble"?

Since the word "all" appears in English in the phrase "all three together", why can't a possible translation be "tous les trois ensemble"? I've commonly seen tous les deux used in French to mean both of them.
