Why is "leur" the object pronoun for la police when la police is a singular noun?
Why is pouvoir in the phrase, "...but my parents told me that we can only keep one..." translated as "nous pouvions" rather than "nous pouvons" ? ie. The use of the l'imparfait rather than the present tense.
I know that we used "voulais" earlier in the sentence, but that was expressed as the past, "I wanted to keep...". Does the use of the l'imparfait earlier in the sentences necessitate the use of the l'imparfait with "pouvoir" also?

Hi, I learned the Est-ce que was a formal way of asking a question. So I thought the verb then would also need an inversion, like: Est-ce que avez-vous une voiture?
When do you use the verb inversion? (I heard actually the inversion is almost not used anymore in normal day France)
In the sentence 'Savez-vous ce que c'est qu'une "irrizina" ?', what is that second 'que' before the 'une' ?
"tu n'écoutes pas Alice" sounds like Alice is the one who isn't listening
Why is it c'est pierre and not il est pierre?
I was expecting to see “j’ai encore retardée mes achats” because the speaker is female. Does the exercise use “retardé” because the object of this part of the sentence is “achats” (a masculine noun), and not the female speaker?

Both appear to translate as Rex rappelle son chien à Anna
