Merci de/pour

Merci de/pour

I put 'Merci de ces explications' on the grounds that 'explications' was an abstract noun and that therefore 'merci de' was slightly more accurate then 'merci pour'. Is that not the case?

Bonjour Charles,

Thank you for your comment! You're right: both "de" and "pour" can be used in this instance.

Thanks to you, it has now been added as a correct alternative.

Merci de votre excellente contribution.

Bonne journée !

I am inclined to agree with you and remercier de is consistent with the above reference.

Bonne journée

Jim
