which I thought sounded as if it were missing its “v” sound. I’m not the most experienced at “hearing French”, but when playing the word “recevra” via a couple if other translator apps I could hear the “v” in those. 

what is the meaning of  "s'acharner sur/contre" in English? will you please give me some examples?

My questions is why the correct answer is "une petite place..." instead of "de petite place" since it's after a negation.

When I get an exercise starting with "Quand j'étais petit" I always think of the song by the same name by Ultra Vomit, a French comedy-metal band. I didn't even know comedy-metal was a genre before I heard them!

Could "rosâtre" be used to translate "pinkish" in the phrase "une douce teinte rosée"?

Why does repondre keep the d in the present tense when prendre loses it and yet they are supposed to follow the same rule as irregulars?

Can "se passer" be used with dates?  Like, "Quand se passe le jour de la Bastille" or "Noel se passe le 25 décembre".

The online Collins dictionary gives the translation of 'être inconnu(e) à qn' meaning to be unknown to someone, which I used in the response. The correction provided for 'inconnues de' and this was confirmed by my big Collins Robert dictionary. Could anyone shed some light on the difference between à or de in this context please?
